Our Story

Thomas Daley started the company in 1948 with a simple philosophy: treat every customer's belongings as if they were your own. That philosophy has been passed down through three generations of the Daley family and remains the foundation of everything we do.
From those early days serving the families of Bolton and Wigan, Daley & Co has grown into a company that moves families and businesses across the North West, across the UK, and across the world. Our red trucks are a familiar sight from Manchester to Macclesfield, and our name is known in removal companies from Sydney to Singapore.
But we have never forgotten where we came from. We are still a family business. We still answer the phone. We still show up on time. And we still treat every move — however large or small — with the same care and attention that Thomas Daley brought to his very first job in 1948.

Founded in Manchester
Daley & Co was established by Thomas Daley with a single horse-drawn cart and a commitment to honest, careful service. The first moves were local — families in Bolton and Wigan trusting us with their most precious possessions.
The Red Fleet Grows
As post-war Britain rebuilt and families moved in greater numbers, Daley & Co expanded its fleet of red removal lorries across Greater Manchester and Lancashire. The red livery became a familiar and trusted sight on North West roads.
International Expansion
The first international shipments — to Australia and Canada — marked a turning point. Daley & Co partnered with global freight agents to offer door-to-door service to families emigrating during the economic upheaval of the decade.
Commercial Growth
The Thatcher era brought significant commercial relocation work as businesses restructured across the North West. Daley & Co's commercial division was established, handling office moves, warehouse relocations, and industrial equipment.
Storage & Specialist Services
Investment in purpose-built containerised storage facilities and the launch of specialist services — piano moving, fine art handling, and bespoke crate making — positioned Daley & Co as the premium choice for discerning customers.
Digital Age, Same Values
Online booking, GPS-tracked vehicles, and digital inventory management modernised operations while the family ethos remained unchanged. Third-generation family leadership took the business into the 21st century.
153 Locations & Counting
Systematic expansion across Cheshire, Merseyside, and beyond brought the total service area to over 153 locations. International operations grew to cover 150+ countries through a trusted global agent network.
