Last updated: 1 April 2025
1. About These Terms
These terms and conditions govern the provision of removal, relocation, packing, storage, and ancillary services by Daley & Co Global Moving Ltd ("Daley & Co", "we", "us"). By accepting a quotation or booking our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
These terms are in addition to, and do not replace, any specific terms set out in your written quotation or booking confirmation.
2. Quotations
All quotations are based on the information provided by you at the time of survey or enquiry. Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to revise a quotation if:
- The volume or nature of goods to be moved differs materially from that described at the time of quotation.
- Access conditions at either the collection or delivery address differ from those described.
- The move date changes significantly from that quoted.
- Additional services are requested after the quotation has been accepted.
3. Bookings and Deposits
A booking is confirmed only upon receipt of a signed booking confirmation and any deposit specified in your quotation. We cannot guarantee availability until a booking is confirmed in writing.
4. Cancellation and Postponement
If you need to cancel or postpone your move, please notify us as soon as possible. The following cancellation charges apply:
- More than 10 working days before the move: Full deposit refunded.
- 5–10 working days before the move: 50% of the total quoted price.
- Less than 5 working days before the move: 75% of the total quoted price.
- On the day of the move: 100% of the total quoted price.
Postponements are subject to availability and may incur an administration fee.
5. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring all goods to be moved are properly disclosed at the time of quotation, including any items of unusual size, weight, or fragility.
- Ensuring adequate access to both the collection and delivery addresses for our vehicles and crew.
- Obtaining any necessary parking suspensions, permits, or permissions at your own cost.
- Ensuring that all items are legally owned by you or that you have authority to move them.
- Disconnecting and preparing all electrical appliances, including washing machines, dishwashers, and gas appliances (which must be disconnected by a qualified engineer).
- Ensuring that children and pets are kept clear of the working area on move day.
6. Items We Cannot Move
We are unable to transport the following items:
- Hazardous materials, including flammable liquids, explosives, and corrosive substances.
- Illegal items or controlled substances.
- Live animals or plants.
- Perishable foodstuffs.
- Items requiring specialist handling that has not been agreed in advance (e.g. certain medical equipment).
7. Liability and Insurance
We take every care with your possessions. Our liability for loss or damage to goods in transit is limited as set out in our standard conditions of carriage, which are available on request.
We strongly recommend that you take out comprehensive removal insurance for your move. We offer MoveProtect insurance through our partner — please ask your moving consultant for details. If you choose not to take out insurance, you do so at your own risk.
We are not liable for:
- Damage to items that were not packed by us.
- Damage caused by inherent defects in the items themselves.
- Consequential loss or indirect loss of any kind.
- Delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including adverse weather, traffic incidents, or third-party failures.
8. Storage
Where we provide storage services, goods are held in our secure containerised facilities. Storage is subject to separate storage terms, which will be provided at the time of booking. We reserve the right to sell goods held in storage if storage charges remain unpaid for more than 60 days, subject to providing reasonable written notice.
9. Payment
Payment is due as specified in your quotation. We accept payment by bank transfer, credit card, and debit card. We do not accept cash for moves over £500. Late payment may result in the suspension of services and may attract interest at 8% per annum above the Bank of England base rate under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998.
10. Complaints
We are committed to providing an excellent service. If you have a complaint, please contact us in the first instance at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 14 working days.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
